Few friendships in Hollywood were as tight as the one between James Franco and Seth Rogen. The two actors collaborated on numerous films (Pineapple Express, The Interview, Sausage Party) and were practically inseparable. Their last project together was The Disaster Artist, a film directed by Franco, who many thought might earn an Oscar nomination for his role—until certain skeletons came out of the closet.
During the height of the #MeToo era, several of Franco’s acting students filed lawsuits against him. This wasn’t only a massive career blow for him but also spelled the end of his friendship with Rogen. Since then, they haven't worked together or even spoken, despite Franco's attempts to mend their relationship.
He spoke about this in an interview with Variety, where he was asked if he was still in contact with Rogen. Franco replied, “No, I haven’t talked to Seth since then. I love Seth; we had 20 good years together, but I believe it’s over. And it’s not because I didn’t try to fix things. I told him how much he meant to me…”
After parting ways with Franco, Rogen has also taken his career in a new direction, shifting towards more serious roles that the industry has acknowledged and respected. He even worked with Steven Spielberg on The Fabelmans and took on exciting, critically acclaimed projects as a producer.
