A few years ago, Rhys Frake-Waterfield unleashed a true dark curse on the world with Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey. As a result, no fairytale hero is safe once they become legally available for use. Therefore, even early versions of Mickey Mouse, Popeye, and Bambi can’t escape. Bambi: The Reckoning is also part of the Phoonieverse, started by Frake-Waterfield, meaning we can expect a similar level of trash horror as Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey and its sequel. In this horror, based on Felix Salten’s story, Bambi isn’t a sweet little deer but a mutant, antlered monster who, of course, seeks revenge for the death of his mother, targeting pretty much everyone who crosses his path. Directed by Dan Allen from a script by Rhys Warrington, the film is set to hit theaters overseas sometime this year.
