If Terrifier 4 doesn't get the green light before its release, a sequel will definitely be announced immediately after the opening weekend, as Terrifier 3 generated over $18 million at the box office in North America against its $2 million budget, making it profitable within just a couple of days. Damien Leone, the writer and director of the horror franchise known for its extremity, stated that the next film will be experimental and will wrap up Art the Clown's saga, but he doesn't even know how many more installments the franchise might continue after that.
"At this moment, there’s no definitive answer as to how many films I’ll make before I wrap up the Terrifier saga. Personally, I don’t see how we could continue for more than one or two more films, but only time will tell. What I do know for sure is how this [fourth installment] will end, and it’s going to be epic," Leone told Variety. He has already achieved great success with the first two Terrifier films, both of which were made on minimal budgets well under $1 million. The second film grossed $10 million in North America and $15 million globally, so for the third one, the director had a bigger budget and didn’t disappoint the producers.
Speaking about Terrifier 4, Leone said, "It will definitely be an epic showdown, an epic conclusion to Art the Clown's saga. The idea I'm playing with in my head is perhaps the most experimental in certain respects, so I can't go into details. Some really, really crazy things are going to happen in the next one."
Reports from the first screenings of Terrifier 3 suggest that Art's latest massacre has thoroughly unsettled viewers' stomachs, but this didn't deter the braver members of the audience; rather, it only heightened their interest. The horror film opened in first place in America, surpassing the other "Art Clown," Joaquin Phoenix's Joker 2, which had a budget exactly one hundred times larger, but its box office revenue plummeted during its second weekend.
