Christopher Nolan is venturing into an unusual genre with his upcoming film Odyssey. Historically, this kind of historical-mythological adventure film has been more of Ridley Scott and Zack Snyder’s territory, while Nolan has been known for thrillers and war-themed works. That’s why we’re sure that we’ll get a very unique take on Homer’s classic from him. The director is hardcore not only in terms of using the latest technology and filming at original locations (like Sicily and its surrounding areas) but also in his choice of international superstars for both leading and supporting roles. The cast is already insanely impressive, but with these new additions, it’s even more so. Elliot Page is one of the newcomers, confirmed by The Wrap: the Oscar-nominated actor, who worked with Nolan as Ellen Page in Inception, played the lead female role alongside Leonardo DiCaprio. Another major star joining Odyssey is Samantha Morton, who was also Oscar-nominated and recently seen in The Whale and The Walking Dead. Alongside them, Himesh Patel (Tenet) and Bill Irwin (Interstellar) are the new additions to the cast. Joining Tom Holland, Matt Damon, Robert Pattinson, Anne Hathaway, Zendaya, Lupita Nyong’o, Charlize Theron, Benny Safdie, John Leguizamo, and Jon Bernthal, they will bring the Odyssey characters to life. Filming is expected to start this month, with Universal reportedly investing $250M, making this potentially Nolan’s most expensive film yet. The expected release date is July 2026.
