[BRIEFLY] The writer for the Star Wars film bringing Rey back has been changed again, and this time, an action-thriller expert is joining the team.

We’re still waiting for new Star Wars films. Disney has already announced several, including James Mangold’s Jedi origin story and the New Jedi Order film featuring Rey, followed by Simon Kinberg’s new trilogy, as well as projects from Shawn Levy (with Ryan Gosling, if all goes as planned) and Taika Waititi. The next release we’ll see is The Mandalorian with Grogu, as that’s already been filmed, and maybe the Rey storyline will eventually come to life. However, the development of this latter film has been quite problematic, as it has now seen its third new writer. The Hollywood Reporter revealed that George Nolfi, the creator of Ocean's Twelve and The Bourne Ultimatum, has joined the New Jedi Order film to handle the script. The director remains Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy, and as of now, Daisy Ridley is set to reprise her role as Rey in a story set 15 years after The Rise of Skywalker, although this time, she won’t be the main character but rather a mentor. Initially, Damon Lindelof and Justin Britt-Gibson wrote the script, but due to creative differences, they left. They were replaced by Peaky Blinders creator Steven Knight, and now, we’re at Nolfi. Due to all the back-and-forth over the script, it’s doubtful that filming will begin this year, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Additionally, Disney and Lucasfilm previously canceled a Star Wars film set for release in 2026 and handed its spot to another project.

A new Resident Evil movie is in the works, but don’t count it out just yet, as it’s being directed by a highly praised horror director!
