[BRIEFLY] You Might Tear Up When You Hear Which Film Christopher Lee Watched Last Before He Passed

It’s been almost a decade since Christopher Lee left us, but his legacy remains vibrant thanks to a career spanning over six decades, beginning in 1948. Alongside Peter Cushing, another Star Wars alum, Lee starred in numerous Hammer horror films, including The Curse of Frankenstein and the 1950s adaptation of Dracula, where he portrayed the titular monster. He reprised the role of the vampire count multiple times over the years.

Of course, Lee is equally celebrated for playing Count Dooku in Star Wars and Saruman in The Lord of the Rings. One might assume his final cinematic experience involved one of his classic Dracula films. However, the new documentary The Life and Deaths of Christopher Lee reveals that the last film he watched was, fittingly, The Lord of the Rings (likely The Fellowship of the Ring, though this wasn’t confirmed).

Juan Aneiros, Lee’s son-in-law, shared this touching story:
"That night, he said, 'The Lord of the Rings is on TV, so we’ll watch it with the nurses. I’ll share some behind-the-scenes stories with them.’ He absolutely loved that film. He watched The Lord of the Rings with the nurses, and afterward, we went home. We all thought it was a great sign, like he was coming back to us! But later that night, I suddenly woke up and saw Christina [Lee’s wife] looking very upset. She said, ‘Dad’s gone.’ It hit us all very hard. I had always thought—truly believed—that he was immortal. I was convinced he’d make it to 100, at least. So it was a shock. But he simply passed away, just like that. He left us in peace, without suffering, and slipped into eternal rest."

Christopher Lee passed away on June 7, 2015, at the age of 93.
