Netflix has released Official Teaser #2 for Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2, and the message is simple enough: new legends, same Night City, probably no emotional safety whatsoever.
The new series is not continuing David Martinez’s story directly. CD PROJEKT RED and TRIGGER are returning with a fresh standalone 10-episode anime set in the world of Cyberpunk 2077, built around new characters and a darker journey through the city’s violent underbelly.
That is a smart move for Edgerunners. The first series worked because it felt complete — beautiful, brutal and emotionally final. Rather than undoing that ending, Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2 appears to be using Night City the way the game universe does best: as a machine that keeps producing new dreamers, new criminals, new legends and new tragedies.
The official story details introduce Weak, a former edgerunner legend now forced to live without chrome, and D, a Snake Nation netrunner hunting revenge after the destruction of her clan. Their paths bring them close t
o corporate secrets, old wounds and the kind of choices that rarely end cleanly in Night City.
The wider cast of characters also includes Roman, a young cinephile trying to capture real stories in a world obsessed with braindance, and Talia, a corpo-raised survivor hardened by Maelstrom’s violent, chrome-obsessed culture. That mix already gives the new season a different flavour: less one crew chasing glory, more several broken lives colliding across the city.
Visually, the teaser leans straight back into the high-voltage identity of Edgerunners: neon, violence, bodies pushed too far, and that constant feeling that every upgrade comes with an emotional invoice. Studio TRIGGER’s return is the major reassurance here, because the first season’s energy came from the way its animation made Night City feel overwhelming, seductive and fatal all at once.
For fans of anime series, Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2 looks less like a conventional sequel and more like a new tragedy wearing the same chrome-plated skin. The names have changed, but Night City is still Night City — and nobody survives it without losing something.
Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2 arrives on Netflix in Fall 2026.
