Hathaway later corrected her "mistake."

Blake Lively had a good summer in terms of box office success, with Deadpool 3 and It Ends with Us, in which she starred, both becoming big hits. However, her recent period was overshadowed by the resurfacing of an old interview in which she wasn’t very kind to the interviewer, leading to widespread criticism. Just days ago, the same Norwegian reporter uploaded a 2012 interview with Anne Hathaway, which sparked similar criticisms toward Hathaway. Unlike Lively, Hathaway was quick to apologize for her behavior.

The Norwegian journalist, Kjersti Flaa, shared the interview titled "This Might Have Been My Worst Interview Idea" from Les Misérables' press tour, which we've linked below. Flaa had asked Hathaway, who won an Oscar for her performance in the musical adaptation of Victor Hugo's classic, along with the other stars, to give their first answer in song. While the other actors—Hugh Jackman, Eddie Redmayne, and Amanda Seyfried—went along with the unusual request, Hathaway responded, "Well, I'm not going to do that, but feel free to sing yourself."

In the video, now with added commentary, the Norwegian reporter introduces it by warning that it's going to be a major cringe moment. She cuts to Amanda Seyfried's singing response first, mentioning how much she loves the sweet Seyfried. But then comes Hathaway, with whom she had a completely different experience, as the star behaved very dismissively towards her. We also see a few clips where Hathaway responds to some of Flaa’s questions with short, curt "no"s, such as when asked if she remembers who her childhood crush was.

Two days after posting the video, Flaa uploaded another one, happily reporting that Hathaway had apologized to her. The actress’s publicist also confirmed to Variety that the apology had indeed taken place.

Flaa explained that Hathaway sent her a letter through her publicist, which "shocked" the journalist because she hadn't expected it. "I thought she'd never see the video, but she did, and what she did after was pretty amazing. She sent a long email explaining what she was going through at the time when the interview happened and apologized for giving such a terrible interview. It really touched me. I'm almost in tears just talking about it; I'm so grateful that she did this," Flaa said. She also revealed that Hathaway offered her a new interview opportunity in 2025 when her next big film comes out. Naturally, Flaa plans to take her up on the offer, as she continues to build a successful YouTube career based on her old interviews.
