Here are the winners of the 82nd Golden Globe Awards! – Netflix’s musical film and The Shōgun dominated, while Wicked and especially the creators of Anora might be disappointed.

It happened. From the moment the nominations were announced, it seemed likely that Emilia Pérez, the Spanish-French musical crime comedy acquired by Netflix, would steal the show. The film was nominated for ten Golden Globes, and unsurprisingly, the production starring Zoë Saldaña, Karla Sofía Gascón, and Selena Gomez did indeed dominate the awards. It converted four out of its ten nominations into trophies, including Best Motion Picture – Musical or Comedy and Best Supporting Actress. Its biggest rival was the Oscar hopeful The Brutalist, which won three awards, including Best Motion Picture – Drama, and a predictable win for Adrien Brody as Best Actor in a Drama.

In a slightly ridiculous twist, the Golden Globe for Best Actress in a Comedy or Musical went to Demi Moore for her performance in The Serum. While the organizers can be forgiven, given that Coralie Fargeat’s work is actually a satirical body horror film, the satire arguably justifies its placement within the broader comedy category. A bigger disappointment, however, was for the creators of Wicked, the much-loved musical Oz retelling, which won only one of its four nominations, and that too in the audience-focused category of Best Movie Experience and Financial Performance. Even sadder was the fate of Sean Baker and actress Mikey Madison. Their acclaimed dramedy Anora, nominated in five categories, walked away without a single Golden Globe.

On the television front, The Shōgun swept all four categories in which it was nominated, including Best Drama Series, with well-deserved wins for its leads, Hiroyuki Sanada and Anna Sawai. Fortunately, The Penguin and the Fawn, The Bear, and Hacks also received their due recognition. Let’s take a look at the full list of winners!
