After Chadwick Boseman’s death, Marvel honored the actor’s memory by not recasting his role in the Black Panther sequel, instead incorporating T'Challa's death into the story. However, a Hollywood insider recently reported that the studio is now searching for a successor, but producer Nate Moore claims this is false, as the development of the third installment is not yet at a stage where any decisions have been made.
"The truth is, these rumors are not true. You can never say never, but we haven’t had too many creative discussions with Ryan Coogler yet because he’s finishing his film The High Note, which is coming out this year. We’ll go into details later this year, but it’s not true what you’re reading on the internet, if for no other reason than the fact that we haven’t started working on it yet," the producer said.
Moore has worked at Marvel since Captain America: The Winter Soldier, and he was also the producer for Black Panther and Black Panther: Wakanda Forever. However, he formally left the studio this year, meaning he no longer holds an official position, though he is still involved in various MCU projects. Kevin Feige mentioned during Moore’s farewell that they would work together again on Black Panther 3, which Marvel has not yet officially announced. However, in an interview last fall, Denzel Washington accidentally revealed that Black Panther writer and director Ryan Coogler had written a role for him in the third installment—suggesting that some sort of script draft has already been completed.
