A new trailer has arrived for Momo and the Time Thieves, a family fantasy adventure based on Michael Ende’s classic 1973 novel.
Alexa Goodall stars as Momo, a young orphan who lives in the ruins of an old Roman amphitheatre and has a rare gift: she truly listens to people. In a world that is becoming faster, colder and more obsessed with efficiency, that small act of attention turns out to be almost magical.
The trouble begins when a powerful corporation starts stealing people’s time. Suddenly, everyone in Momo’s neighbourhood is too busy, too rushed and too distracted for the things that once made life meaningful. Even her best friend Gino no longer has time for her.
At her lowest point, Momo is led by a mysterious tortoise to Master Hora, played by Martin Freeman, the Guardian of Time. Together, they must fight the time thieves and recover what has been stolen before the city loses more than just hours and minutes.
That premise feels especially sharp now. Momo and the Time Thieves may be a fantasy adventure, but its message is very modern: what happens when productivity becomes more important than friendship, imagination and simply being present with other people?
Directed and written by Christian Ditter, the film also stars Araloyin Oshunremi, Kim Bodnia, Claes Bang, Laura Haddock, Jennifer Amaka Pettersson and David Schütter. The trailer suggests a bright, accessible family film with a deeper emotional idea underneath: time is not just something to save, spend or measure. It is something we share.
