No joke: Taylor Lautner will play himself in a werewolf hunter series, where he begins investigating werewolves after the last Twilight film

Opinions may be divided on how well the Twilight films turned out, but it’s a fact that the careers of its two main stars, Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson, were successfully launched. This, however, can’t be said about Taylor Lautner, who played the werewolf Jacob. Lautner admitted that although, during Twilight, he was followed everywhere by screaming teenage girls, the fans later faded away, which he found difficult to process. This is precisely why his next project seems particularly interesting and incredibly authentic, as revealed by Variety.

According to the magazine, Lautner will not only star in, but also produce an Amazon MGM Studios TV series titled Taylor Lautner: Werewolf Hunter. Variety also obtained the show’s official synopsis, which is already quite bizarre:

"After finishing the last Twilight film, Taylor Lautner disappeared from the spotlight. Fans speculated, tabloids created theories – but the reality is much wilder than fiction. Taylor didn’t just take a break to mentally recover. He was preparing for his true calling… Taylor Lautner: Werewolf Hunter. Playing himself, Taylor joins a secret organization searching for werewolves that needs the actor's unique expertise. Living a double life – a Hollywood actor by day, a supernatural warrior by night – Taylor must grapple with the irony of the situation: he’s forced to fight the very creatures that made him famous. Along with saving the world, resurrecting his career, and falling in love, he must answer the ultimate question – what happens when your biggest role becomes your greatest enemy?"

Based on the description, Taylor Lautner: Werewolf Hunter promises to be quite unserious, but its strange concept might make it entertaining. Additionally, the showrunner will be Daisy Gardner, who has worked as a writer on A Stúdió, Californication, and South Park. The series is being produced with help from the independent company The Tornante Company, who also worked on BoJack Horseman.
