Recently, Robert Pattinson sat down for an interview with Naomi Ackie, one of his Mickey 17 co-stars, for Hero Magazine. While the primary topic was their sci-fi film about cloning, in which Pattinson’s character spends a lot of time on the floor, the 2022 Batman sequel also came up, despite the fact that its filming still hasn't started. This is clearly starting to bother the actor as well.
When Ackie asked Pattinson if he would soon put on the Batman suit again, the actor responded laughing:
"I fcking hope so. I started my career as a young Batman, but I’m going to be a fcking old Batman by the time we get to the sequel. I’m 38 years old, I’m old."
Pattinson did add, though, that while he considers himself old, he’s actually healthier now than before and has actually lowered his biological age a bit.
At the Mickey 17 London premiere, the actor mentioned that he expects filming for Batman 2 to begin by the end of 2025. Of course, he couldn’t share any details about the film, but he thinks it will be very "cool" and "exciting." DC Studios head Peter Safran stated in February that the sequel’s director and writer, Matt Reeves, has not yet delivered the full script, but what he has read so far is "incredibly promising."
The premiere of Batman 2 was moved last December from October 2, 2026, to October 1, 2027. The film will not be part of the newly rebooted DCU under Peter Safran and James Gunn, but according to Reeves, it’s not out of the question that Pattinson's Batman might appear in it.
