Disney+ has released the official trailer for The Doomies, a new animated supernatural comedy-adventure series built around monsters, friendship and one very unfortunate portal-opening mistake.
The series follows best friends Bobby and Romy, whose lives are thrown into chaos after they accidentally open a gateway to the underworld. Their peaceful coastal town is suddenly overrun by creatures of doom, turning everyday life into a messy, funny and occasionally horrifying battle against supernatural weirdness.
The trailer leans into a tone that feels spooky without becoming too heavy: monsters, glowing portals, frantic chases, strange creatures and two kids who are absolutely not qualified to handle the apocalypse, but sadly do seem to be responsible for it. That is usually the best kind of setup for animated adventure — high stakes, low preparedness and plenty of room for panic.
What makes The Doomies appealing is the friendship at the centre. Bobby and Romy are not monster-hunting professionals. They are best friends trying to fix a problem they accidentally created, while also dealing with their own fears, doubts and very inconvenient creatures. The supernatural chaos gives the series its scale, but the emotional engine appears to be their partnership.
The show is produced by French animation studio Xilam in association with Disney EMEA, with Andrés Fernandez among the key creative voices behind the series. The animation style gives the trailer a bold, expressive look, mixing coastal-town charm with underworld madness and creature comedy.
For fans of animated adventure series, The Doomies looks like a lively Disney+ release with a fun horror-comedy flavour. It has enough monsters to feel dangerous, enough jokes to keep it light, and the kind of “we broke reality, now we have to fix it” premise that works very nicely for younger viewers and animation-loving adults alike.
The Doomies premieres on Disney+ on June 26, with 22 half-hour episodes.
