The superhero series The Boys, which turns superhero stories upside down, is created by Eric Kripke, who is also behind the highly successful Supernatural. He has already brought several actors from his previous show into the new one, such as Jensen Ackles, who became famous for playing Dean Winchester, now portraying Soldier Boy in The Boys. It had been suggested earlier that for the final season, the other Winchester brother, Jared Padalecki, should also join the cast. Both Kripke and Padalecki expressed enthusiasm about this idea last year. Therefore, it didn’t come as much of a surprise when it was announced that Padalecki would indeed appear in the fifth season of The Boys. What's more, Misha Collins, who portrayed Castiel in Supernatural, is also joining, along with a bunch of other characters.
All of this was announced in a TikTok video (see below in the article), where Ackles first speaks to Padalecki, saying, "Jared, we’ve got work to do... again!" Padalecki responds, "Okay, I'll tell Misha." Then Collins, smiling, gives a thumbs-up before hesitating and asking, "What are we doing?"
According to Variety, Padalecki and Collins will be "guest stars" in the final season of The Boys. It’s still unclear what characters they will be playing.
Last year, Kripke mentioned that he wanted to collect Supernatural actors for The Boys like Pokémon, and described Padalecki as a particularly big "pocket monster." Alongside Ackles, he has already brought in Jim Beaver (Bobby Singer), Jeffrey Dean Morgan (John Winchester), and Rob Benedict (Chuck Shurley), but Padalecki hadn’t been available before, as he was busy starring in the Walker reboot as the Texas Ranger. However, that series was unfortunately (?) canceled after four seasons, so the actor is now available.
