Stephen King is one of the most popular horror writers of our time, if not the most, despite having been in the game for quite a while. He’s been active since the 1970s, and ever since, filmmakers have been paying special attention to his work, resulting in numerous adaptations over the decades. There are plenty of books and short stories that could be turned into series, and King has his own preferences too. In a recent interview regarding Mr. Harrigan's Phone on Netflix, the author mentioned that his 1995 novel Rose Madder would make a great film adaptation. "I don’t think anyone has suggested adapting Rose Madder yet, but I think it would make a fantastic movie," the author told Netflix.
The titular character of Rose Madder, Rose Daniels, lives in a hellish marriage. One day, she finally gets fed up with the humiliations inflicted by her cruel husband and escapes. Her friends help her hide, but her husband, Norman, is so crazed that he can't tolerate the blow to his masculinity, so he goes after Rose. To make matters worse, he can also abuse his power as a brutal cop. So, this is a classic escape psychothriller, making it more than ideal source material for a film!
