Disney is officially setting the stage for a huge summer, and the new Summer Starts Here brand spot is less a traditional trailer and more a full-scale reminder of just how many major worlds the studio has ready for audiences.
The spot brings together three of Disney’s biggest 2026 theatrical releases: Star Wars: The Mandalorian and Grogu, Toy Story 5 and the live-action Moana. That is a very deliberate mix — one galaxy-spanning franchise, one Pixar legacy sequel and one live-action reimagining of a modern animated favourite. In other words, Disney is not selling just one film here. It is selling an entire season.
The campaign has been launched under the wider “Disney Blockbuster Summer” banner, tying movies, Disney+, theme parks, merchandise and family experiences into one connected entertainment push. For fans, the message is simple: whether they are heading to the cinema, revisiting older favourites at home, visiting the parks or picking up new collectibles, Disney wants to be the centre of the summer conversation.
The timing also makes sense. The Mandalorian and Grogu brings the popular Disney+ story to the big screen, turning Din Djarin and Grogu’s adventures into a theatrical event. Toy Story 5 follows with another return to one of Pixar’s most beloved franchises, this time exploring how the toys’ world changes when technology enters the picture in a bigger way. Then Moana arrives in live-action form, bringing the ocean, Maui and Moana’s journey back to audiences in a new format.
What makes the movie slate interesting is how different each title feels, even though they all sit comfortably under the Disney umbrella. Star Wars brings spectacle and adventure, Toy Story brings nostalgia and emotional familiarity, while Moana brings music, mythology and a strong family-audience appeal. Together, they create exactly the kind of broad, cross-generational lineup Disney likes to build major seasons around.
The brand spot itself keeps things bright, energetic and accessible. It is not designed to reveal major plot details or deliver a deep story tease. Instead, it works as a mood-setter — a polished invitation to treat summer as a Disney event.
With The Mandalorian and Grogu, Toy Story 5 and Moana all positioned as major theatrical moments, Summer Starts Here makes Disney’s strategy very clear: this is not just about one opening weekend, but about keeping audiences inside the Disney ecosystem all season long.
