Genden Phuntsok stars as Tenzing Norgay alongside Tom Hiddleston as Edmund Hillary in Apple’s new drama about their historic 1953 ascent. But the film looks beyond the physical climb, contrasting the Western desire to conquer Everest with Tenzing’s spiritual relationship with Chomolungma — the mountain he considers sacred.
Directed by Jennifer Peedom, Tenzing also stars Willem Dafoe, Caitríona Balfe and Thinley Lhamo. The film opens in select theaters on October 9 before streaming globally on Apple TV on October 16, 2026.
