A New Yellowstone Spinoff Announced, Featuring Two Fan-Favorite Stars from the Main Series

Yellowstone is one of the most successful series—and franchises—of our time, breathing new life into the long-dormant Western genre with both modern and classic elements. The main series has already spawned multiple spinoffs and prequels. However, as the show concludes this week (with the final episode debuting next week in some regions), fans can look forward to The Madison continuation and, excitingly, won’t have to bid farewell to two of its most beloved characters just yet.

While we won’t spoil the names upfront to avoid ruining the Yellowstone Season 5 finale, if you’re curious, read on at your own discretion!

According to Deadline, Kelly Reilly and Cole Hauser—arguably the most adored stars after Kevin Costner—are set to lead their own spinoff as Beth Dutton and Rip Wheeler. Insider sources reveal that negotiations between the actors and Paramount have been finalized, confirming that a Beth-and-Rip-centric spinoff is indeed happening. Naturally, the project will be spearheaded by franchise creator Taylor Sheridan, and it’s likely that other characters who survive the finale will also appear. Based on the latest episodes, the spinoff is expected to focus on Beth and Rip running the ranch, which they presumably save during the endgame of the main series.

The Deadline article also notes that, unlike other spinoffs titled with years like 1883, 1923, or 1944, this new series will likely include Yellowstone in its official title due to its close ties to the main storyline. Since it centers on Reilly and Hauser’s characters, the spinoff will be set in the 21st century and address lingering plotlines left unresolved in the finale.

Interestingly, the report suggests this spinoff could even serve as a de facto sixth season for Yellowstone, as there have been rumors that Paramount isn’t entirely ready to end the main series after Season 5. However, due to complex legal agreements, the studio may proceed with a new series rather than continuing Yellowstone directly, since the show is not currently an exclusive property of Paramount Global.

The Beth-and-Rip spinoff isn’t entirely unexpected; Cole Hauser previously hinted at the possibility, contingent on Sheridan’s involvement. It seems his wish has come true. Meanwhile, it was recently announced when 1923, starring Harrison Ford and Helen Mirren, will resume.
