The Extraction film universe is expanding with a brand-new addition—a series—in which, instead of Chris Hemsworth, Omar Sy will take the lead role. The star of The Intouchables, Jurassic World, and Inferno will play a mercenary in the upcoming Netflix production, tasked with rescuing hostages from Libya while finding himself caught in the crossfire of warring factions and killers, meaning there will be no shortage of bullet storms.
The series will feature emotional conflicts, far-from-perfect characters, and heavy themes. Glen Mazzara, known for The Shield and The Walking Dead, is joining the project as writer and showrunner. Additionally, the two creators of the Extraction films, Anthony and Joe Russo, are also on board as producers, ensuring an authentic experience.
Peter Friedlander, one of Netflix's executives, commented on the announcement, stating that the audience is in for an exciting ride, as they'll be able to immerse themselves even deeper in the Extraction universe. With Omar Sy and the other cast members involved, viewers can expect action at the usual high pace, characteristic of the franchise. Hopefully, it's not just another simple shooting adventure and will come with a solid story.
