Blood Sacrifice Trailer Hunts a Killer Targeting Police in Stockholm

Blood Sacrifice Trailer Hunts a Killer Targeting Police in Stockholm

Netflix has released the official trailer for Blood Sacrifice, a dark new Swedish crime thriller that turns Stockholm’s seemingly endless summer daylight into the backdrop for a brutal hunt for a killer.

The five-part series begins with an emergency call reporting a home invasion at an isolated summer house in the Stockholm archipelago.

Two police officers are dispatched to investigate.

When they arrive, however, the property appears to be empty.

The following day, both officers are found murdered.

Their deaths become the beginning of a terrifying series of attacks that appear to share one disturbing connection: someone is deliberately targeting members of the police.

Jakob Oftebro stars as Thomas, the lead detective assigned to investigate the killings. As the number of victims increases and the threat begins moving closer to his own life, Thomas realises that solving the case may require help from the person he is least comfortable asking.

His father, Alfred, is a retired detective.

Played by Peter Andersson, Alfred possesses decades of investigative experience but shares a deeply fractured relationship with his son. The murder investigation forces the two men back into one another’s lives after years of resentment and unresolved conflict.

The official trailer places that difficult father-son relationship at the centre of the mystery.

Thomas and Alfred may share the same instinct for police work, but working together means confronting a personal history neither man has successfully left behind. As the investigation becomes more dangerous, they must decide whether their mutual distrust is something they can overcome before the killer strikes again.

Jakob Oftebro leads the cast alongside Peter Andersson, with Electra Hallman, Alexander Abdallah, Henrik Norlén, Lisette T. Pagler, Magnus Krepper, Irina Björklund, Anders Mossling and Anna Maria Käll also appearing in the series.

Blood Sacrifice was created and written by George Kay, whose previous television work includes Netflix’s Lupin and the acclaimed thriller Hijack.

Kristoffer Nyholm directs all five episodes. His previous credits include The Killing and Taboo, making the combination of Scandinavian crime drama, psychological tension and an increasingly personal investigation particularly well suited to his style.

The Stockholm setting also gives the series a distinctive visual identity.

Rather than hiding its crimes beneath the darkness traditionally associated with Nordic noir, Blood Sacrifice takes place during the Swedish summer, when daylight stretches late into the night. The beautiful archipelago and almost permanent light create an unsettling contrast with the increasingly violent crimes unfolding across the city.

At its centre, however, the series appears to be as much a family drama as a murder mystery.

Thomas is hunting someone prepared to kill police officers without hesitation, but solving the case also requires him to reopen a relationship with the father he has deliberately kept at a distance.

The killer may therefore force both men to confront more than the crimes in front of them.

They will also have to deal with a past that has never really disappeared.

All five episodes of Blood Sacrifice premiere globally on Netflix on August 20, 2026.
