Clayface Star Tom Rhys Harries Explains Why He Could Beat Batman

Could Clayface defeat Batman? Tom Rhys Harries has some thoughts on that question as he prepares to introduce audiences to one of Gotham City's most unsettling villains.

Appearing on Jimmy Kimmel Live!, the Welsh actor discussed his starring role in DC Studios' new horror thriller Clayface, as well as his upbringing in Wales and his experiences adjusting to life in Los Angeles.

The conversation takes a playful turn when Jimmy Kimmel raises the question of whether Batman could survive a confrontation with Harries' character, whose extraordinary shape-shifting abilities make him a particularly unpredictable opponent.

Directed by James Watkins, Clayface follows Matt Hagen, a rising Hollywood actor whose career is destroyed after a brutal attack leaves him severely disfigured.

Desperate to reclaim his former appearance, Hagen undergoes an experimental treatment that initially appears miraculous. However, the procedure triggers disturbing physical and psychological consequences, sending him down a dangerous path of revenge.

The film takes a distinctly different approach to the superhero genre, combining DC mythology with psychological horror and gruesome bodily transformations.

Written by Mike Flanagan and Hossein Amini, the production also stars Naomi Ackie, David Dencik, Max Minghella and Eddie Marsan.

Beyond the darker elements of his upcoming film, Harries' interview provides a lighter introduction to the actor behind the character, including stories about his parents visiting America and the challenges of driving around Los Angeles.

Clayface arrives in US cinemas on October 23, 2026, with international releases beginning October 21.
