Lionsgate has released the second official trailer for Fall 2: Deadpoint, raising the altitude — and the terror — for the follow-up to the 2022 survival thriller Fall.
Harriet Slater stars as Jax, a young woman still struggling with the death of her fearless sister. Hoping to honour her memory and confront the grief she has been carrying, Jax joins her sister’s adventurous friend Luce, played by Arsema Thomas, for an extraordinarily dangerous climb.
Their destination is Mount Kwan, where the two attempt a precarious plank walk high above the surrounding landscape.
What begins as a memorial journey quickly becomes a nightmare.
A violent rockslide destroys their route and leaves Jax and Luce stranded thousands of feet above the ground, with almost no obvious way back to safety.
Trailer 2 places even greater emphasis on the film’s vertigo-inducing survival sequences. Narrow wooden platforms hang over seemingly endless drops, unstable rock faces threaten to collapse without warning and every movement becomes potentially fatal.
For Jax, the situation forces her to confront much more than a fear of heights.
Her sister’s death remains at the centre of the journey, turning the climb into both a physical survival challenge and an emotional confrontation with the trauma she has been trying to escape.
Luce initially appears to represent the adventurous spirit Jax has lost, encouraging her to push beyond her limits. But as their situation deteriorates, the trailer hints that hidden truths and conflicting motivations could make their relationship almost as dangerous as the mountain itself.
Harriet Slater leads the film alongside Arsema Thomas and Tom Brittney. Virginia Gardner and Grace Caroline Currey, who starred in the original Fall, are also among the cast.
The sequel is directed by brothers Peter and Michael Spierig, whose previous genre work includes Jigsaw, Predestination and Daybreakers. Scott Mann, director and co-writer of the original Fall, co-wrote the new screenplay w
ith Jonathan Frank.
The original film built much of its suspense around an extremely simple idea: place its characters somewhere impossibly high and remove every safe route back to the ground.
Deadpoint appears determined to expand that concept without abandoning what made it effective.
Instead of a communications tower, the sequel uses an enormous natural environment where collapsing rock, narrow ledges and unpredictable terrain can transform even a small mistake into disaster.
The second trailer suggests that the filmmakers are once again relying heavily on the audience’s instinctive fear of falling, repeatedly framing the characters against enormous empty spaces and forcing them to make decisions where there is virtually no margin for error.
But survival may not be the only challenge awaiting them.
The footage hints at secrets, betrayals and unexpected complications that could turn Jax’s attempt to find closure into something considerably darker.
