Netflix has released the official trailer for Outer Banks Season 5, setting the stage for one final adventure filled with treasure, revenge and increasingly dangerous risks.
The final season finds the Pogues at their lowest point following the devastating death of JJ in Morocco. John B, Sarah, Kiara, Pope and Cleo are grieving the loss of their best friend while facing the reality that they have also lost the Blue Crown, their home and almost everything they fought to build.
Chandler Groff remains at large, while Dalia and the Corsairs continue closing in. Back in the Outer Banks, the Kooks are determined to ensure that the Pogues have nowhere left to return to.
With their enemies gathering and their options disappearing, the group forms an uneasy alliance with Rafe Cameron. Their goal is no longer simply to find another treasure. They want to avenge JJ, recover the stolen Blue Crown and finally claim the freedom that has repeatedly slipped away from them.
The trailer also suggests that the legendary powers associated with the crown may become increasingly important. While mourning JJ, Kiara recalls the belief that the artifact can bring back the dead, raising a haunting question about whether the Pogues are chasing revenge, hope or an impossible way to undo their loss.
John B is facing additional responsibilities as he prepares to become a father with Sarah. The reckless teenager who began the series is now forced to consider the consequences of his decisions and whether he can protect the family he is about to create.
Chase Stokes, Madelyn Cline, Madison Bailey, Jonathan Daviss and Carlacia Grant return as the central Pogues, alongside Drew Starkey as Rafe. The returning cast also includes Austin North, Fiona Palomo, J. Anthony Crane and Cullen Moss.
The full trailer promises some of the series’ most ambitious action yet, including violent storms, knife fights, explosives, towering climbs and a motorcycle launching towards a moving aircraft. However, the emotional consequences of JJ’s death appear to remain at the centre of the story.
Created by Josh Pate, Jonas Pate and Shannon Burke, Outer Banks began in 2020 as a story about friendship, class conflict and a seemingly impossible treasure hunt. Its creators have said that they originally envisioned the adventure as a five-season journey and have known for years how its final scene would unfold.
After four seasons of lost fortunes, dangerous enemies and narrow escapes, the Pogues are preparing to risk everything one final time.
Outer Banks Season 5 premieres exclusively on Netflix on August 20, 2026.
