Netflix has released the final trailer for Outer Banks Season 5, offering one last look at the Pogues before their long-running treasure-hunting adventure comes to an end.
The final season finds John B, Sarah, Kiara, Pope and Cleo still dealing with the devastating consequences of their previous journey. JJ’s death has left a permanent wound within the group, while the loss of the Blue Crown and the collapse of everything they built have pushed the surviving Pogues back to where they started.
This time, however, they are no longer simply chasing treasure.
Revenge has become just as important as survival.
Chandler Groff remains one of their greatest enemies, and the Pogues are determined to make him pay for what happened to JJ. At the same time, the Blue Crown continues to pull them towards another dangerous confrontation, forcing the group to decide how much they are willing to risk for justice, freedom and the possibility of finally escaping the cycle that has controlled their lives.
The final trailer places the emotional consequences of JJ’s death at the centre of the story. Kiara, John B and the others are no longer the carefree teenagers who began searching for the Royal Merchant years earlier. They have lost friends, homes, fortunes and almost their own lives in pursuit of one impossible goal after another.
Yet the familiar Pogue instinct remains unchanged: when everything is taken from them, they fight back.
Season 5 also brings Rafe Cameron into an increasingly complicated relationship with the group. After years of hostility, shifting loyalties and violence, circumstances force Rafe and the Pogues into an uneasy alliance.
For John B, the stakes have changed in another important way. Sarah is pregnant, meaning their decisions no longer affect only themselves. The prospect of becoming a father forces John B to confront what kind of future he wants after years spent living from one dangerous adventure to the next.
Chase Stokes returns as John B alongside Madelyn Cline as Sarah Cameron, Madison Bailey as Kiara, Jonathan Daviss as Pope and Carlacia Grant as Cleo. Drew Starkey reprises his role as Rafe, with Austin North, Fiona Palomo, J. Anthony Crane and Cullen Moss also returning.
The final trailer promises everything audiences have come to expect from Outer Banks: dangerous dives, high-speed escapes, violent confrontations, storms, treasure hunts and reckless plans that should probably never work.
But the emphasis this time is unmistakably on closure.
Creators Josh Pate, Jonas Pate and Shannon Burke have previously explained that they originally imagined the series as a five-season story and have known the final scene for years. Season 5 therefore represents the planned conclusion of the Pogues’ journey rather than an unexpected cancellation.
After years of chasing gold, surviving betrayals and repeatedly risking everything for one another, the Pogues are preparing for their final ride.
Outer Banks Season 5 premieres exclusively on Netflix on August 20, 2026.
