“Gravity” is a punk rock song with Latin choir chants from the second season of Hazbin Hotel, sung by the angel Lute (Jessica Vosk), with Alex Brightman as a hallucination of Adam. Prime Video released it on 10 October 2025, and it features in “Storyteller”, the second episode of season two. What genre is Gravity from Hazbin Hotel?
It is a punk rock song. The writers built it from contemporary rock with Latin choir chants behind it, in the style of Gregorian chant, and some verses use a hip-hop vocal rhythm. The chants were the idea of series creator Vivienne “VivziePop” Medrano, inspired by “Hellfire” from Disney’s The Hunchback of Notre Dame (1996).
Who is Lute, and what is the song about?
Lute is Adam’s ruthless second-in-command among the Exorcist angels. Adam was killed at the end of season one, and in season two Lute, goaded by a hallucination of him, plans her revenge on Hell. In “Gravity” she makes that plan clear: she wants Charlie to feel the same loss, by going after Vaggie, Charlie’s girlfriend.
Why Lute got a solo song
- A fan favourite: Vosk sang little in season one, but her part in “You Didn’t Know” went down so well that the writers gave her a solo in season two.
- A different sound: Haft and Underberg wanted music that reflected only Lute’s bloodthirsty side, in contrast to the theatrical rock that Adam sings.
- It charted: the single entered the UK Official Singles Chart and the Billboard Canadian Hot 100 in October 2025.
