In early 2023, alarming news emerged about Jeremy Renner: the Oscar-nominated star of The Hurt Locker and The Town, who had recently won hearts as Hawkeye in the MCU, suffered a horrific snowplow accident during New Year’s snow-clearing efforts. Left in critical condition in the hospital, even after the immediate danger passed, it was unclear whether he’d ever be able to walk again. Thankfully, thanks to the work of dedicated doctors and medical staff, Renner recovered—and now he’s marking the second anniversary of what he calls his "rebirth day" by expressing gratitude to those who helped him.
“Happy New Year to everyone... Today is my second ‘rebirth day’!” Renner wrote in a heartfelt post, accompanied by a photo from the early days of his recovery. “With love, respect, and immense gratitude, I reflect on the countless people who helped piece me back together. Thank you to every nurse, doctor, and first responder... I quite literally owe you my life. I am eternally grateful to my brave and amazing nephew and the angels (my neighbors) who rushed to help me and endured 45 long minutes of chaos on the icy pavement that New Year’s morning. I’m sorry to have burdened you all with these frightening images (and I’ll spare everyone the meat-grinder photos)...”
In his extended message, Renner also thanked his fans from around the world who prayed for him, his family who stood by his side, and even suggested there may have been a bit of divine intervention, some luck, and perhaps even a miracle involved in his survival.
“I’m standing on strong legs again. With more openness. More love. More connection. And it’s a f***ing blessing to be able to take my next step, to take my next breath. I thank you with every fiber of my being. I love you all!”
