Sonic the Hedgehog 3 has performed quite well at the box office so far: in just a month, it has made $422.5 million, making it the highest-grossing installment in the franchise. So, it’s no surprise that a fourth film is coming, which Paramount announced on the same day as the release of Sonic 3. We now know that the fourth film will hit theaters in the spring of 2027, with the studio specifying the exact date: March 19, 2027. This is the North American premiere date, a Friday, but following the usual practice, it will likely hit Hungarian theaters a little earlier, possibly on Thursday, March 18. With this, Paramount is repeating the pattern from the second film, which also had a spring release: the first and third films, on the other hand, had winter premieres, and the latter greatly benefited from the holiday season. Currently, we don’t know anything about the story or the cast, but Jim Carrey has already expressed interest in returning for the fourth installment of the Sonic adventure.
