A new trailer for Practical Magic 2 has arrived, bringing Sandra Bullock and Nicole Kidman back to one of the most beloved witchy sisterhood stories of the late 1990s.
Bullock and Kidman return as Sally and Gillian Owens, the magical sisters at the heart of the 1998 cult favourite. This time, the story moves the Owens family curse into a new generation, as Sally’s daughters Kylie and Antonia become pulled into the same dangerous legacy that has haunted the women of their family for years.
The central problem remains brutally romantic: any man loved by an Owens woman is doomed to die. That curse has always given Practical Magic its strange emotional mix — cosy magic, grief, sisterhood, dark comedy and the very reasonable fear that falling in love might accidentally become a death sentence. Horribly inconvenient, really.
Trailer 2 leans into that familiar blend of warmth and danger. The Owens home still feels like a place of midnight margaritas, family rituals and slightly chaotic spellwork, but the stakes now look sharper. When Kylie falls for a young man and danger quickly follows, the family is forced back into the old fight: how do you break a curse that has shaped generations?
The sequel also brings back Stockard Channing and Dianne Wiest as the iconic aunts, while Joey King and Maisie Williams join as Sally’s daughters. Lee Pace, Xolo Maridueña and Solly McLeod are also part of the new ensemble, expanding the Owens world without losing the original film’s family-centred magic.
What makes Practical Magic 2 interesting is that it is not simply selling nostalgia. The original film became a comfort-watch classic because it understood that magic was never just about spells. It was about women protecting each other, surviving loss and finding power in a world that punished them for wanting love, freedom and joy.
For fans of romantic fantasy movies, this sequel looks like a return to exactly the right emotional territory: sisterhood, inherited magic, old wounds and one family trying to turn a curse into something they can finally survive.
