Round two. Fight.
A new trailer for Street Fighter has arrived, and this time the upcoming video game adaptation is giving us much more than a parade of familiar costumes.
At the heart of the story are Ryu and Ken Masters, played by Andrew Koji and Noah Centineo. Once as close as brothers, the two fighters have gone their separate ways — Ryu retreating from the world while Ken continues chasing glory.
Then Chun-Li enters the picture.
Played by Callina Liang, she tracks Ryu down with a warning: Ken is heading into the World Warrior Tournament, and something much more dangerous is happening behind the competition.
That “something” involves David Dastmalchian’s M. Bison, and judging by the new footage, getting through his tournament is going to require considerably more than throwing a few punches.
The trailer also finally lets Street Fighter behave like Street Fighter.
Ryu launches a Hadouken, E. Honda unleashes his Hundred Hand Slap, and the increasingly ridiculous — in the best possible way — ensemble of fighters gets considerably more screen time.
And that cast is enormous.
Jason Momoa plays Blanka, WWE star Cody Rhodes is Guile, Roman Reigns takes on Akuma and Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson plays Balrog. They’re joined by Orville Peck as Vega, Olivier Richters as Zangief, Hirooki Goto as E. Honda and Vidyut Jammwal as Dhalsim, among many others.
Kitao Sakurai directs the film, which is set in 1993 and follows Ryu, Ken and Chun-Li as they become caught up in the World Warrior Tournament and the conspiracy hiding behind it.
There have been plenty of attempts to turn fighting games into movies over the years — including Street Fighter’s own famously chaotic 1994 outing with Jean-Claude Van Damme.
This one seems perfectly aware of what it is.
Huge characters. Impossible fighting moves. Arcade-era insanity.
Street Fighter hits theaters on October 16, 2026.
