Terrifier 4 finally answers a question we've been waiting for since the franchise began

Last year, Terrifier finally arrived with its massive box office success in the third installment, and the brutal slasher series' writer-director, Damien Leone, celebrated his 43rd birthday by gifting fans a small piece of information regarding the continuation: the script for Terrifier 4 is already in the works, and this horror film will finally reveal Art’s origin story.

The infamous killer clown, known for his stomach-churning methods, was introduced to audiences by Leone in 2016. The first Terrifier was made on a very modest budget of around $35,000 to $55,000 and earned a remarkable $420,000 at the box office. With the second installment in 2022, Leone had a bit more money to work with, but the $250,000 budget was still considered small by Hollywood standards. Despite that, the sequel was a massive hit, grossing $15.7 million at the box office. Last year, the franchise leveled up in terms of budget, revenue, and brutality: $2 million was allocated for the production of the third Terrifier, which ultimately earned $89.8 million.

It’s no surprise, then, that Art will be back at least once more—perhaps for the last time, perhaps not. Leone himself couldn’t say last year, but he doesn't want to stretch the story out unnecessarily. In a recent post, he reflected on the saga's conclusion:

"Thank you so much for the amazing birthday wishes! It’s truly a blessing to know so many wonderful people. I’d like to take this opportunity to gift something back to the Terrifier fans. The script for Terrifier 4 is on its way, and the most epic, terrifying, exciting, emotional, and satisfying conclusion to the Terrifier saga is taking shape. Personally, I’ve never been this excited to see one of my scripts come to life on the big screen. P.S. In this installment, I will finally reveal Art’s origin" – wrote Leone, who we wish a belated happy birthday!
