The Cat in the Hat Trailer 3 Brings Dr. Seuss Mischief Back to the Big Screen

Warner Bros. UK & Ireland has released the third official trailer for The Cat in the Hat, bringing Dr. Seuss’ iconic mischief-maker back to the big screen in a new animated feature.

Bill Hader voices the Cat, and the trailer immediately leans into the character’s central appeal: he is magical, irritating, charming, reckless and probably the last person anyone should trust with a quiet afternoon. This version of the Cat is not simply showing up to make a mess for the sake of it. He is part of the wonderfully overcomplicated Institute for the Institution of Imagination and Inspiration, where his job is to help children rediscover joy, creativity and a little necessary chaos.

The story follows two siblings, Gabby and Sebastian, who are struggling after moving to a new town. Enter the Cat in the Hat, whose solution to emotional adjustment appears to involve maximum weirdness, minimum supervision and several decisions that would absolutely not pass a parental risk assessment.

That gives the film a slightly bigger structure than the original picture book while keeping the spirit intact. The Cat has always represented the dangerous fun of imagination — the part of childhood where rules bend, rooms explode with possibility and someone probably has to apologise to a fish afterwards.

The voice cast includes Xochitl Gomez, Tiago Martinez, Matt Berry, America Ferrera, Quinta Brunson, Bowen Yang, Paula Pell, Tituss Burgess and Giancarlo Esposito, giving the film a strong comedy ensemble around Hader’s central performance. Matt Berry as the Fish already sounds like exactly the kind of casting that could steal scenes through pure disapproval.

For families and animation fans, this movie looks like Warner Bros. Pictures Animation’s attempt to give The Cat in the Hat a fresh theatrical identity: more colourful, more expansive and hopefully closer to the strange, rhythmic spirit of Dr. Seuss than the infamous live-action version everyone still side-eyes a little.

The Cat in the Hat opens in theaters on November 6, 2026.
