Tom Holland is rumored to wear one of the most iconic "Spider-suits" in Spider-Man 4, potentially connecting the film to Sony's Spider-Man Universe.

It’s already confirmed that a fourth Spider-Man film starring Tom Holland is in the works. This probably wasn’t even a question within the studio after the massive success of No Way Home. The big question is how the story will continue, especially since, as of now, everyone, including MJ, has forgotten who Spider-Man truly is thanks to Doctor Strange’s spell, and according to producer Amy Pascal, Peter is now burying himself in work, having forgotten who Peter Parker is. However, if we believe the leak from MyTimeToShineHello, Peter will wear one of the most iconic "Spider-suits," originally called the Black Suit. This suit was recently featured in the Marvel's Spider-Man 2 video game (which was also released on PC), and it also appeared in Sam Raimi's Spider-Man 3.

The insider shared this information along with a fan image, and while it’s still just a rumor, it seems like a logical development. The Black Suit made its first appearance in the 1960s in The Amazing Spider-Man, and in the 1980s, in the original Secret Wars storyline, it wasn’t actually a suit but a symbiote. The symbiote Spider-Man has appeared in contemporary comics as well, though it’s important to note that there is another black spider suit, which resembles the symbiote suit but isn't symbiote-based—this one was created by Black Cat. You can see pictures of both versions in the official Marvel Comics article.

The symbiote version seems more likely if we trust the leak, partly because Tom Holland's Spider-Man is set to play a major role in Secret Wars, the big showdown that will conclude the Multiverse Saga, as well as in the sixth Avengers film of the same name. Additionally, at the end of No Way Home, we saw that while Eddie Brock and Venom were sent back to their own universe after Doctor Strange’s forgetting spell, a small piece of the symbiote stayed behind in the MCU. Of course, Venom: Let There Be Carnage somewhat recontextualized this, but it wouldn’t be impossible for that small fragment of the symbiote to bond with Tom Holland’s Spider-Man in Spider-Man 4. Through this, the film could finally connect to Sony's Spider-Man Universe. However, the fate of that franchise is uncertain, as Let There Be Carnage and its predecessors have mostly underperformed, and Sony seems to be focusing more on Spider-Man stories.

Filming for the new Spider-Man movie is set to begin sometime this summer, with Destin Daniel Cretton in the director’s chair. The planned U.S. release date is July 24, 2026. In the meantime, you can check out The Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man series, and we’ve discussed its MCU connections in this article.
