VisionQuest Puts Ultron Inside Vision’s Head
Marvel’s final VisionQuest teaser sends Paul Bettany’s Vision on the run with a mysterious son — while James Spader’s Ultron becomes the most dangerous voice inside his mind.
Vision has survived Thanos, death, resurrection and being rebuilt without most of the emotions that once defined him. His next problem may be considerably harder to escape: Ultron is living inside his head.
Marvel Television’s latest VisionQuest teaser arrives just before the Disney+ premiere, putting Paul Bettany’s rebooted synthezoid back at the centre of the MCU story that began with WandaVision.
Vision has been hiding in Edinburgh, working quietly in a pub while trying to understand memories that technically belong to another version of himself. To make sense of them, he communicates with AI personalities embedded in his programming — including J.A.R.V.I.S., F.R.I.D.A.Y., E.D.I.T.H. and, unfortunately, James Spader’s Ultron.
His attempt at anonymity ends when bounty hunter Paladin begins tracking him and uses Thomas Shepherd, played by Ruaridh Mollica, to draw him out. Thomas may also be the reincarnation of Vision and Wanda Maximoff’s son Tommy, giving Vision another particularly complicated question about what makes someone family.
Terry Matalas serves as showrunner, with Todd Stashwick, T’Nia Miller, Emily Hampshire, James D’Arcy and Orla Brady among the supporting cast.
VisionQuest concludes the trilogy that began with WandaVision and continued through Agatha All Along.
In the UK, VisionQuest begins streaming Wednesday, October 14 exclusively on Disney+.
