Talent might get you noticed. Learning when not to throw a punch could be considerably harder.
Youngblood stars Ashton James as Dean Youngblood, a gifted Detroit hockey prospect who heads to Canada to join the Hamilton Mustangs and chase his NHL dream. His skill immediately stands out, but arrogance, a brutal rival and the lessons drilled into him by his demanding father — played by Blair Underwood — threaten to derail his career before it really begins.
Directed by Oscar-nominated filmmaker Hubert Davis, the film is a contemporary reimagining of the 1986 sports drama that starred Rob Lowe and Patrick Swayze, updating the story with a stronger focus on identity, masculinity and toxic traditions in hockey. After its theatrical and digital release earlier this year, Youngblood begins streaming exclusively on MovieSphere+ on October 1, 2026.
