A classic Western is riding back onto the big screen.
Angel Studios has released the new official trailer for Angel and the Badman, a modern reimagining of the 1947 John Wayne film, this time starring Zachary Levi, Tommy Lee Jones, Neal McDonough and Meg Fraser.
Levi takes the lead as Quirt Evans, a feared outlaw who arrives on a ranch with a bullet in his back and little expectation of surviving. Instead, he finds compassion from Penny, the rancher’s daughter, who gives him something he hasn’t had in a long time: the possibility of a different life.
Unfortunately for Quirt, walking away from violence is easier said than done.
With a marshal closing in and his old enemies threatening the people who have taken him in, Quirt is forced to decide whether he really can leave his past behind — or whether becoming a better man will require him to pick up a gun one more time.
Directed by Julio Quintana, the new film also stars Neal McDonough and Academy Award winner Tommy Lee Jones, adding some serious Western credentials to the cast.
The original Angel and the Badman was released in 1947 and starred John Wayne as Quirt Evans. Rather than simply recreating the film scene for scene, the 2026 version is being presented as a new interpretation of the redemption story at the heart of the original.
Angel and the Badman arrives in US theaters on October 9, 2026.
International release dates have yet to be announced.
