Netflix has unveiled the full official trailer for Below, bringing the mysterious threat lurking off the coast of Newfoundland considerably closer to the surface.
Josh Hartnett stars as Calvin Penney, a stubborn but big-hearted fisherman living in the remote community of Snooks Arm. Calvin is already struggling to hold his fractured family together while carrying the emotional weight of his father’s unexplained death decades earlier.
When something unidentified begins attacking people in the surrounding waters, the town’s traditional way of life is placed in immediate danger. What initially appears to be an isolated maritime incident soon develops into a terrifying crisis that threatens everyone Calvin loves.
The new trailer expands upon the atmospheric first teaser, revealing more of the escalating attacks, the fear spreading through the community and Calvin’s increasingly desperate attempt to understand what is hunting them.
Determined to protect his son Wade and the rest of his family, Calvin joins forces with visiting marine researcher Fonda Howander. Together, they investigate the creature while uncovering secrets buried within the island’s history.
Josh Hartnett leads the cast alongside Mackenzie Davis as Fonda and Stranger Things star Charlie Heaton as Wade. The ensemble also includes Willow Kean, Ruby Stokes, Rohan Campbell, Kaleb Horn, Natasha Henstridge and Mary Walsh.
Created by Jesse McKeown, the six-part limited series combines maritime horror, local mythology and creature-feature suspense with a family drama about grief, resilience and a community facing unavoidable change.
Newfoundland’s rugged coastline plays a central role in the series, surrounding the characters with an environment that is both strikingly beautiful and dangerously unpredictable. The isolated setting also means that when the attacks begin, there may be nowhere for the residents to escape.
All six episodes of Below premiere globally on Netflix on October 8, 2026.
