Heart of the Beast may be a survival thriller, but David Ayer wanted Brad Pitt’s character to feel like someone who genuinely lived the military life.
A new behind-the-scenes featurette focuses on the production’s pursuit of authenticity, with Pitt, Ayer and military adviser Shaun Dezern discussing the mindset, movement and experience behind former Special Forces officer James Belmont. After a plane crash leaves James stranded deep in Alaska with his combat dog Odin, those skills become the pair’s only chance of making it home.
The movie reunites Pitt with his Fury director David Ayer and also stars J.K. Simmons and Anna Lambe. Heart of the Beast opens in theaters on September 25, 2026.
