Netflix has released the official trailer for MLB at Field of Dreams, a special live baseball event bringing Major League Baseball back to one of the most recognisable locations in sports-movie history.
The game will take place at the Field of Dreams movie site in Dyersville, Iowa, where the Minnesota Twins will face the Philadelphia Phillies in a regular-season matchup surrounded by the location’s famous cornfields. It will be the first MLB game staged at the site in four years and the third edition of the event overall.
Kevin Costner, who starred as Iowa farmer Ray Kinsella in the original 1989 film, lends his voice to the trailer and introduces the return of baseball to the location where cinema and sporting mythology have become almost inseparable.
The upcoming game will feature some of MLB’s biggest names. All-Star outfielder Byron Buxton will lead the Minnesota Twins against a Philadelphia Phillies team featuring Bryce Harper and Kyle Schwarber. Both clubs will also wear specially designed retro uniforms inspired by earlier eras in their histories.
The Phillies’ uniforms draw inspiration from the team’s 1939–41 design, while the Twins will wear a 1960s-style white jersey with navy pinstripes and the organisation’s classic “Minnie and Paul” sleeve logo. The period-inspired presentation continues the event’s emphasis on baseball history and nostalgia.
The first MLB at Field of Dreams game was held in 2021, when the Chicago White Sox defeated the New York Yankees 9–8 with a dramatic walk-off home run. The event returned in 2022 for a game between the Chicago Cubs and Cincinnati Reds before taking a four-year break.
The 2026 broadcast forms part of Netflix’s expanding partnership with Major League Baseball. Between 2026 and 2028, the platform will stream MLB Opening Night, the T-Mobile Home Run Derby and an additional annual special-event game, beginning with this year’s return to the Field of Dreams.
MLB at Field of Dreams will stream live on Netflix on 13 August 2026. Special coverage begins at 6:30 p.m. ET, followed by the first pitch at 7:30 p.m. ET. Availability may vary by country.
