Paramount has released the official trailer for The Angry Birds Movie 3, and this time Red is facing something even more frightening than green pigs: parenthood.
Jason Sudeikis returns as Red, the permanently stressed bird whose anger issues have carried him through two big-screen adventures. But the third film gives him a very different kind of challenge. According to Paramount’s trailer listing, “parenthood is a game-changer,” and the new story sees Red trying to survive fatherhood while still being dragged into another world-saving adventure.
That is a smart evolution for the franchise. Red has always been funny because he is emotional, reactive and very bad at staying calm. Put that personality inside a family-comedy setup, add kids, chaos and probably several preventable disasters, and suddenly the “angry bird” premise has a new emotional engine.
The returning voice cast includes Jason Sudeikis as Red, Josh Gad as Chuck, Danny McBride as Bomb and Rachel Bloom as Silver. New cast members include Emma Myers, Walker Scobell, Keke Palmer, Lily James, Tim Robinson, Marcello Hernández, Anna Cathcart and Nikki Glaser, giving the sequel a much larger flock of comic personalities.
The trailer appears to lean into Red’s domestic panic: baby-proofing, family stress, apathetic teens and the terrifying realization that heroic instincts do not automatically translate into good parenting. Saving Bird Island may be dramatic, but raising kids is apparently where the real boss level begins.
For fans of animated movies, The Angry Birds Movie 3 looks like a bright holiday release built around slapstick, family chaos and a surprisingly relatable question: what happens when the angriest bird in the flock has to learn patience?
