Warner Bros. Pictures has released a new “Summer Ends on Oak Street” spot for The End of Oak Street, transforming the familiar pleasures of a suburban summer into an enormous prehistoric fight for survival.
Anne Hathaway and Ewan McGregor lead the science-fiction thriller as the parents of the Platt family, whose ordinary neighbourhood is torn away from suburbia by a mysterious cosmic event.
The houses, gardens and streets initially remain where they were, but the world surrounding them has completely changed. Oak Street now stands inside an unknown landscape filled with dense wilderness, unstable terrain and creatures that should have vanished millions of years ago.
The latest promotional spot builds its campaign around the ominous promise that summer is ending on Oak Street. What should be a season of family time, outdoor activities and quiet evenings in the neighbourhood instead becomes a desperate struggle to survive.
The residents can no longer rely on emergency services, modern infrastructure or help from the outside world. Their homes may still be standing, but the familiar suburban environment offers little protection against the predators now moving beyond their gardens and along their streets.
For the Platt family, the central challenge is remaining together while everything around them becomes increasingly unrecognisable. Their survival depends not only on escaping the creatures hunting them, but also on resisting the fear and conflict capable of separating them.
Anne Hathaway and Ewan McGregor lead the cast alongside Maisy Stella and Christian Convery as the younger members of the family. P. J. Byrne and Chris Coy also appear in the ensemble.
The film is written and directed by David Robert Mitchell, whose previous work includes It Follows and Under the Silver Lake. Mitchell’s involvement brings an additional layer of mystery to the large-scale creature adventure, as the explanation behind Oak Street’s disappearance remains carefully hidden.
The residents do not yet know whether they have travelled through time, been transported to another planet or entered an entirely different reality. Even the dinosaurs may represent only one part of the much larger mystery surrounding their new environment.
J. J. Abrams produces the film through Bad Robot alongside Hannah Minghella, Jon Cohen, David Robert Mitchell, Matt Jackson and Tommy Harper. Michael Giacchino composed the score, while Michael Gioulakis serves as cinematographer.
The latest spot continues to highlight the contrast at the centre of the film. Dinosaurs and cosmic phenomena are usually associated with distant islands, laboratories or enormous fantasy landscapes. Here, they invade one of the most recognisable and supposedly secure environments imaginable: an ordinary family neighbourhood.
That collision allows familiar suburban objects to take on a different meaning. Homes become temporary shelters, roads lead into unknown territory and garden fences become fragile barriers between families and creatures capable of tearing through their world.
The campaign also positions the film as both a suspenseful survival thriller and a large-scale family adventure. Although the dinosaurs provide its most immediate danger, the story ultimately appears to revolve around a family discovering whether they can continue trusting one another after everything familiar has disappeared.
Filmed for IMAX, The End of Oak Street begins its international theatrical rollout on August 12, 2026, before arriving in US cinemas and IMAX on August 14, 2026.
Summer may be ending everywhere else, but on Oak Street, surviving it could be the Platt family’s greatest challenge.
