Samuel Goldwyn Films has released the official trailer for The Girl in the River, an upcoming crime thriller built around a disturbing double abduction and a killer who may be hiding in plain sight.
After twin teenage sisters are kidnapped, one girl’s body is recovered from the Mississippi River while the other remains missing. Veteran criminologist Alan Kramer, played by Devon Sawa, is called to a remote town gripped by fear and suspicion.
Kramer is forced to work alongside Amelia Pembrock, a brilliant but inexperienced profiler portrayed by Maggie Grace. Under the command of relentless police captain Erica Graysmith, played by Tiffany Haddish, the investigators attempt to understand a predator who appears to plan every move with frightening precision.
As the investigation attracts intense media attention, the pair must enter the killer’s mindset and uncover the truth before the missing sister—or another child—becomes the next victim.
The film also stars Ralph Macchio and is written and directed by Brando Benetton, marking his feature directorial debut. Benetton previously directed the action-thriller short film Nightfire.
Combining psychological profiling, a small-town mystery and a rapidly escalating manhunt, The Girl in the River looks set to deliver a tense race-against-time thriller with an unusually recognisable ensemble cast.
The Girl in the River is scheduled to arrive in select US cinemas and on digital platforms on 4 September 2026.
