The Land Turns NFL Football Into Family Warfare
Christopher Meloni, Mandy Moore and William H. Macy enter the pressure cooker of the Cleveland Browns in The Land, where winning football and surviving family politics become the same problem.
Saving an NFL franchise is difficult enough. Doing it while your family fights over who gets to control the team makes things considerably worse.
Hulu’s The Land comes from This Is Us and Paradise creator Dan Fogelman and places two families at the centre of a struggling Cleveland Browns season. Christopher Meloni stars as head coach Danny Roarke, whose job is hanging by a thread after several disappointing years.
His possible salvation is also his biggest complication.
The Browns have drafted highly rated Ohio State quarterback Connor Roarke, played by Sam Corlett. He also happens to be Danny’s son. While the organisation has effectively bet its future on the young quarterback, Danny remains unconvinced that Connor is ready to carry the franchise — creating a father-son conflict with an entire football city watching.
Upstairs, another succession battle is developing. William H. Macy plays Browns owner Hal Durkin, who must decide which of his two daughters is capable of taking control of the team. Mandy Moore and Chloe Bennet play the sisters competing for that future, while Chace Crawford, Bridget Moynahan and Omar Epps join the ensemble.
The trailer makes The Land look less like a conventional sports series than a family drama where the stadium simply provides an unusually expensive battlefield.
The Land premieres February 15, 2027 on Hulu with two episodes, followed by one new episode each week.
