Clayface's Greatest Moments Revisit DC's Shapeshifting Villain
DC celebrates Clayface's most memorable movie and television appearances in a new compilation, revisiting his terrifying transformations and classic battles with Batman.
One of Batman's most unpredictable enemies is stepping back into the spotlight. DC has released a new compilation celebrating the greatest movie and television moments of Clayface, the terrifying shapeshifting villain whose appearances have ranged from tragic character studies to spectacular superhero confrontations.
The official video revisits memorable sequences from DC's animated history, including Batman: The Animated Series and Batman: Hush, highlighting the character's extraordinary abilities and his complicated relationship with Gotham City's Dark Knight.
Unlike many of Batman's enemies, Clayface can transform his appearance, impersonate other people and manipulate his body into enormous weapons or monstrous shapes. These abilities have made him an especially challenging opponent across multiple adaptations.
One of his most influential portrayals came in the acclaimed 1992 animated series, where actor Matt Hagen undergoes a devastating transformation after becoming dependent on an experimental substance.
The two-part episode Feat of Clay established the character as more than a conventional supervillain, exploring his desperation, lost identity and struggle to regain his former life.
Other adaptations have taken different approaches, emphasising his horror elements, theatrical personality or destructive powers.
The retrospective arrives alongside renewed interest in Clayface following his transition to live-action cinema, with Tom Rhys Harries portraying Matt Hagen in director James Watkins' DC Studios film.
For longtime Batman fans and newcomers alike, the compilation offers an entertaining look at how the character has evolved across decades of DC storytelling.
