Percy Jackson Season 2 Bloopers Go Off Script
Walker Scobell, Leah Sava Jeffries and the Percy Jackson cast break character in a new Season 2 blooper reel celebrating 20 years of The Sea of Monsters.
Fighting monsters and saving Camp Half-Blood looks considerably less heroic once somebody forgets a line.
Disney+ has released a new Percy Jackson and the Olympians blooper reel featuring Walker Scobell, Leah Sava Jeffries, Aryan Simhadri and the rest of the Season 2 cast breaking character while filming their journey through The Sea of Monsters.
The video arrives as part of the 20th anniversary celebrations for Rick Riordan’s second Percy Jackson novel, first published in 2006. Season 2 adapted that story for television, sending Percy back to a Camp Half-Blood under attack before launching him on a dangerous quest for the Golden Fleece.
The behind-the-scenes footage offers a much lighter version of that adventure. Instead of Kronos, deadly monsters and collapsing magical borders, the biggest threats become missed cues, ruined takes and actors trying — unsuccessfully — to stop laughing long enough to finish a scene.
Season 2 expanded the core cast with Daniel Diemer as Percy’s Cyclops half-brother Tyson, alongside returning stars Scobell as Percy, Jeffries as Annabeth, Simhadri as Grover, Charlie Bushnell as Luke and Dior Goodjohn as Clarisse.
It’s also a nice reminder that behind all the visual effects and mythology, Percy Jackson is still being made by a group of young actors having a ridiculous amount of fun together.
Both seasons are streaming now on Disney+.
