Johnny Depp is bringing a darker side of Ebenezer Scrooge to the big screen, and a new Paramount Pictures featurette puts his interpretation of Charles Dickens' iconic character firmly in the spotlight.

Titled Johnny Depp on Ebenezer, the promotional video arrives ahead of the theatrical release of Ebenezer, a gothic reimagining of the classic Christmas story directed by Ti West.

Best known for his horror films X, Pearl and MaXXXine, West approaches Dickens' familiar tale with an emphasis on its supernatural elements, creating an unsettling atmosphere around Scrooge's journey towards redemption.

Depp portrays the wealthy, bitter businessman whose contempt for Christmas and lack of compassion have isolated him from the world.

Everything changes when he receives a terrifying warning from the ghost of his former business partner, Jacob Marley, played by Ian McKellen.

Over the course of one extraordinary Christmas Eve, Scrooge is confronted by spirits representing his past, present and future, forcing him to reconsider the decisions that have shaped his life.

The ensemble includes Rupert Grint as Bob Cratchit, Andrea Riseborough as the Ghost of Christmas Past, Sam Claflin as Fred and Daisy Ridley as Emily Cratchit.

Written by Nathaniel Halpern, the film aims to preserve the emotional foundations of Dickens' original story while introducing a more frightening visual interpretation.

The new featurette offers another opportunity to see Depp's transformation into one of literature's most recognisable characters ahead of the festive season.

Ebenezer arrives in UK and US cinemas on November 13, 2026.
