Johnny Depp Faces the Ghosts in Ebenezer Trailer

Bah, humbug — and this time, Christmas looks genuinely haunted.

Johnny Depp steps into one of literature’s most famous roles in Ebenezer, director Ti West’s new adaptation of Charles Dickens’ A Christmas Carol. The second trailer pushes the supernatural side of the story much further, as Ian McKellen’s Jacob Marley warns Scrooge that three spirits are coming to force him to confront the life he has built — and the future waiting for him if nothing changes.

Depp is almost unrecognisable beneath the ageing makeup, but his Scrooge doesn’t look like a purely grim recreation of the character. The trailer mixes bitterness and gothic horror with flashes of the actor’s familiar eccentric humour, while West leans into the fact that Dickens’ Christmas classic has always been a ghost story at heart.

The impressive ensemble also includes Rupert Grint, Andrea Riseborough, Sam Claflin, Daisy Ridley, Ellie Bamber and Tramell Tillman. Riseborough plays the Ghost of Christmas Past, Tillman appears as the Ghost of Christmas Present, while McKellen takes on Scrooge’s deceased former business partner Jacob Marley.

For Depp, Ebenezer also marks a major return to a large Hollywood studio production, while West moves from the horror worlds of X, Pearl and MaXXXine into Victorian London.

Ebenezer arrives exclusively in theaters on November 13, 2026.
