Why a wedding?
Weddings matter in this film. Last Rites follows Ed and Lorraine Warren’s daughter Judy, now grown up and engaged to Tony Spera, and it ends with her wedding. The stunt plays on that idea, with shoppers invited to look at wedding dresses under the tagline “a wedding dress to die for”.
What is The Conjuring: Last Rites about?
The film is based on the real investigation of the Smurl haunting. In 1986 the Smurl family moves into a house in West Pittston, Pennsylvania, and the haunting that follows draws in the Warrens for one more case. Directed by Michael Chaves, it is the ninth film in the Conjuring series and is described as Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga’s last outing as the Warrens.
It became the highest-grossing film in the series, with about $499 million worldwide. A prequel, The Conjuring: First Communion, is set for 10 September 2027.
