Diary of a Wimpy Kid Christmas: The Getaway Trailer Sends Greg to Paradise

Forget snow, cosy fireplaces and traditional Christmas celebrations. Diary of a Wimpy Kid Christmas: The Getaway is sending Greg Heffley and his disaster-prone family somewhere considerably warmer in Disney+'s latest animated holiday comedy.

The newly released trailer introduces a tropical twist on the familiar Heffley family chaos. With the festive season approaching, Greg's parents decide that an all-inclusive island resort offers the perfect escape from Christmas stress. Unfortunately for Greg, the holiday quickly proves anything but relaxing.

Instead of enjoying paradise, the family encounters a growing collection of mishaps, unexpected wildlife and holiday disasters. From troublesome resort activities to increasingly ridiculous situations, the trailer promises another adventure driven by Greg's spectacularly bad luck.

Jacob Isaac Peterson voices Greg, alongside Chris Diamantopoulos as his father Frank, Erica Cerra as his mother Susan, Hunter Dillon as Rodrick and Gracen Newton as Manny. The supporting voice cast includes Fred Armisen as the resort's enthusiastic Director of Fun and Beau Bridges as Captain Stubbard.

Directed by Matt Danner (Diary of a Wimpy Kid: The Last Straw), the film is written and produced by Jeff Kinney, creator of the bestselling book series. It marks the fifth animated instalment in Disney+'s adaptation franchise.

Unlike 2023's snowbound Diary of a Wimpy Kid Christmas: Cabin Fever, this festive adventure swaps winter weather for sunshine without abandoning the family's talent for catastrophe.

Diary of a Wimpy Kid Christmas: The Getaway premieres exclusively on Disney+ on 4 December 2026, offering a distinctly unconventional family Christmas.
