Allen Trailer: An Alien Best Friend Returns After 20 Years
Netflix's Allen reunites a man with his childhood alien best friend after 20 years in a quirky Australian sci-fi comedy from the studio behind Bluey. Watch the official trailer.
What happens when your childhood best friend returns after 20 years — and he happens to be an alien? Netflix has released the official trailer for Allen, an Australian science-fiction comedy blending an unlikely reunion with an extraordinary adventure.
The story follows Petey, a man who has never quite moved on from the disappearance of his extraterrestrial childhood companion, Allen.
Two decades later, Petey is still struggling to find his place in the world when Allen unexpectedly returns to Earth. But the reunion isn't quite the joyful return to childhood that Petey imagined.
Allen brings with him a complicated secret that could have extraordinary consequences, turning their renewed friendship into an unpredictable adventure. As their lives collide once again, Petey must confront the past while finally learning to navigate the responsibilities of adulthood.
T.J. Power leads the cast as Petey, alongside Charlotte Nicdao, Josh Helman, Emily Barclay and Benedict Hardie.
The film comes from Ludo Studio, the Australian production company behind the internationally successful animated series Bluey. It is co-directed by Daley Pearson and Jeffrey Walker, with a screenplay by Pearson and Sophie Miller.
Rather than presenting an alien invasion on an enormous scale, Allen explores an extraterrestrial encounter through the more personal themes of friendship, nostalgia and growing up.
The trailer promises an eccentric mixture of awkward humour, science-fiction surprises and heartfelt moments as Petey discovers that reconnecting with an old friend might change his entire future.
Allen premieres globally on Netflix on November 12, 2026.
